“I'm Renata Fernandes Monteiro, Senior Manager at EY Consulting in the Financial Services (Risk Management: Compliance & Non-Financial Risk) branch. I help organizations properly translate tax and non-financial risks and regulations into workable processes, so that they do what is right, are demonstrably in control and work smarter,” she says. She started her career at a bank in Brazil and was already working with EY at that time. After a number of discussions, she moved to EY Brazil. She decided to stay in the Netherlands with her husband because she can and should be both a mother and a career woman here.
Hi,
I am Renata
One day
that is never the same
“No day is the same. I get customer questions about regulations and compliance, analyse gaps, translate them into solutions and supervise implementation. Essentially, I solve problems: from issue to concrete improvement, together with the customer and my team.” Renata states that it is precisely the variety and interaction of different facets that make her work so much fun.

Renata Fernandes Monteiro
Senior Manager
“Stay true to your values. Know what you want and go all out for it. At EY, you get freedom but you also live up to high expectations. You get the confidence to go outside your comfort zone, with good guidance. Success comes when you see opportunities, connect and move forward.”
Growth & ambition,
without a ceiling
“My ambition is great: keep growing, increasing impact and moving towards a partner. As long as I add value for my team, my customers, and EY, there is no limit. I actively seek opportunities, connect colleagues across disciplines and build relationships with customers.”
Freedom, Trust, and Ownership
“At EY, you get the space to take on new challenges, provided you are proactive. For me, ownership means taking responsibility, clearly prioritizing and changing what you can change yourself. There is a lot of flexibility in planning: I'm often in the office, I love people,” she says happily. But she also plans to work from home when necessary. For example, she picks up her children at 5:30pm and logs my children in the evening; if necessary, I log in at night. Clear agreements and mutual trust make that possible.”
More than rules and checkmarks
“When I work, a lot of people think of rules and compliance checks. The reality: it's about thinking critically, solving problems and further developing processes. I help organizations do the right thing in an honest, transparent and effective way. Trust and integrity are key here.”
Technology & AI: less rehearsal, more strategy
“I use AI every day. For research, structuring and reviewing texts and communicating efficiently. This saves administrative time and provides space for strategy, quality and dialogue with the customer. Tools are widely accessible, but context, judgment and advice make the difference.”
Work & maternity
combine in my way
It is logical that an ambitious job and running a family do not come naturally. But where does Renata see the biggest challenge? She says with conviction: managing other people's expectations.” I don't want decisions to be made for me. Let me make that choice. I've accepted that you can't be 100% on all fronts at the same time every day. For me, it's really about the long line. At home, we are one team: when I travel, my husband takes care; and vice versa. My motto helps: stay authentic, don't overcompensate, keep it simple and keep it calm.”
Tip for
new colleagues
Working at EY based on her values is what Renata strives for. Working together in an honest, honest way. “When something goes wrong, we say it, we learn, and we solve it together. That's how we build trust, with customers and with each other. Be proactive: opportunities seldom come ready-made. Connect internally, deeply understand the customer issue, and stay true to your values. That's where sustainable growth comes in.”
